Production of Music Video - Filming Differences from AS Year

When filming our music video, I spotted a number of differences compared to last year such as:

  • AS - When filming our shots for our thriller opening, each clip was no longer than 20 seconds so it was simple to redo if mistakes were made.
  • A2 - When filming the base tracks, we had to get the artist to perform all of the lyrics in one go without making any mistakes or else we would have had to redo it. In this case, the artist had to sing and lip-sync the lyrics for 4 minutes straight!

  • AS - The camera shots we used for our thriller opening were the average type of shots you would find in a film or movie such as long shots, high angle shots, over the shoulder shots and point of view shots.
  • A2 - The camera shots which we had to use for our music video consisted mainly close ups, medium close ups and long shots.

  • AS - We used multiple tracking and panning camera movements to follow the main character and set the scene.
  • A2 - We didn't need to use tracking and panning as much but we still tested our luck and attempted a few including zoom-in's and luckily it worked.

  • AS - We was able to improvise and continue adding ideas to our thriller movie on set and was able to help conduct our actor/main character into what she had to act out. Also our thriller opening didn't consist any speech so it was down to the simple acting.
  • A2 - We are unable to add ideas freely as last year as it is limited due to creating an illustrated music video and we wouldn't want it to not make sense towards the audience. Also our artist has to know all lyrics in order for the music to work.
