Skills Development - Editing

Last year was my first time doing a media course, so I knew I would face some difficulties in the process especially when I wasn’t very confident using a mac computer. However after some practice with programmes like Final Cut Pro I started to find it easier and became more certain of myself. But know having finished my AS when we started this year I found it a lot easier as I already knew how to use the programmes and how to do all the basic stuff and some more complex edits.

However for AS we had to create a thriller opening which was a bit different as it had to be more specific as we already had a genre, unlike this year when we have a much wider space for our own ideas and because it’s a music video we can be more creative as they don’t always make sense. We had to learn new editing techniques as we couldn’t have it so simple, we had to include some more interesting edits for example the split screen.

Last year I also learned how to use some more simple programmes like Handbrake, this allowed us to convert our final thriller opening into mp4 and so then we could post in on our blog, however this year that programme is no longer working so we have had to learn how to use a new one.
